Transgender America faces many problems that most “normal” Americans cannot comprehend, such difficulties become a way of life.

Many people assume that to be transgendered is to have a sex change, this is not the case. The definition of transgender is an individual who identifies with a different gender than their sex implies. However, those who do get sex changes generally are judged and stereotyped. Most people have no idea what is involved when going through a sex change. The process includes: living as a member of the designated sex for a certain length of time, hormone treatments, surgery, name changes and much more. When moving past the “misunderstood” factor of transgender life, there are all of the factors that are less apparent, but equally real. Transgendered individuals often have difficulties finding jobs, living quarters, and are denied other civil rights.
