It's not the games, It's the parents

Violent video games have been blamed for making kids more violent and immune to violence. However, it is not so much the games fault as the child's supervisor. Violent video games can lead to violence in children, but parents should turn on parental controls, watch what their child is playing, and pay attention to the games ratings as well as the amount of time spent playing said video games. In addition, children who have learning disabilities should not be exposed to too much violence because they are more likely to pick up habits from what they see. There are also alternatives if your 6 year old is begging you for a shooting game, get them something less realistic so they know its a game and not real (such as 007 for the N64). Also, many times, the parent or older relative is the purchaser of M rated games, some video game stores such as Game Stop, will not sell M rated games to kids under age.
