People let me tell you ‘bout my best friend. He's a one boy cuddly toy, my up, my down, my pride and joy.

If someone were to ask you who your best friend is, you would most likely answer with a person you closely associate with or a family member. What about that furry canine of yours that consistently wags its tail when you’re around? Dog is supposedly man’s best friend, right?

Our canine companions have been by our side for centuries and have helped us out a great deal more than we assume they do. They assist us medically, and emotionally. Dogs have aided the blind, rescued people from rubble, and sniffed out drug crimes. Studies show that the relationship between a dog and its owner is similar to that of a parent and child. The relationship is circular. An owner loves and cares for his dog, the dog loves and cares for its owner. In comparison, a dog is much more willing to learn and interact as opposed to its rival, the cat, and unlike a human, a dog can not retaliate with harsh criticism. So, the next time you are frustrated, consider who the best friend is to vent to.
