Puppy mills are terrible places where dogs are forced to live in extremely harsh conditions and are shipped off to pet stores for a profit. The puppies are often kept in cadges that have too many dogs in them. The cadges are often made of wire and cut the paws of the dogs. This usually spreads disease because the dog cadges are placed over dirt and mud. The mud enters the cut in the paw causing infection, which most likely will end the dog’s life. There is also a shortage of food given to the dogs, leading many to die of starvation. The dogs are not shown any care and sometimes end up becoming savage to any human that it comes in contact with. The female dogs are usually used for breeding until they either die from exhaustion or cannot produce a new litter of pups. These issues should not be taken lightly and need to be stopped.
