Inclusion is GREAT for not only special education students but also for general education students.

My argument is about how inclusion is good for not only special needs kids but it is also just as good for general education kids. Some educators and parents don’t think that inclusion is good for the special needs students because it gives them the opportunity to be made fun of by general education students. From my experiences with working with special needs students this is not true. By the special needs students going to general education rooms general ed students get the opportunity to see what it is like to be around someone with a disability and not judge them from their outside appearance. This is also good for the special education student because they are being challenged in school. They do not have to sit in the same classroom all day long with the same people. If the student is higher functioned they should get the opportunity to go to a class that is more fitting for their mental ability. Just because they are in a wheel chair does not mean the school system has a right to hold their education back. Professionals and parents also think inclusion is bad because some educators believe that the special education teachers are just going to leave the students in the classroom with no supervision and no help. This is not true. One of the reason schools have paraprofessionals is to go around to the classroom with their students and help them in general education classrooms. Special Educators have to be very careful to put their students with teachers that are willing to help and work with special needs students. Inclusion does not work for every child but people are becoming much more understanding of special needs children because of inclusion.
