Marijuana

My argument is on the marijuana legalization debate.  It is not necessarily meant to convince people to legalize marijuana, but mainly to get people to realize some of the good things about legalizing marijuana.  Most people never stop to think how marijuana legalization could actually help them, even if they have no real stance on the issue.
The marijuana legalization debate has been going on and on ever since marijuana was first prohibited in 1937.  The marijuana legalization debate is a great debate to be having, but it is also a sad fact that many people do not have their facts straight on the issue.  Marijuana is viewed by most as an illegal drug which should be avoided and should remain illegal because it is unhealthy, addictive, and bad.  The truth is, marijuana is really not that bad for the human body, and less addictive than cigarettes, and even caffeine.  Legalizing marijuana would really not be as bad as most people assume it would be.

Baseball players are underpaid, they work harder and longer than we imagine and they provide our society with endless entertainment

Baseball players in today’s society are by no means overpaid. They work harder and longer than any of us could ever imagine. They rarely get to see their families or loved ones during the season. During the offseason they have to train, work out, and eat healthy to stay in shape for the next season. They have to travel all over the country day in and day out during the season. Also the players that are paid the “big money” are the ones that have proven themselves out on the baseball field time and time again to earn their raise. They have to be extremely dedicated and focused if they want to make it big in the majors. They have worked their whole lives to try and become a professional athlete, and for all that work it only makes sense to pay them the salaries that they receive today.

Puppy Mills are places that extort mistreatment for personal gain and should be illegal. These issues shouldn't be taken lightly and should be stopped

The mistreatment of any living thing without any reason is unacceptable. Puppy Mills are places that extort that mistreatment for personal gain and should be illegal. Puppy mills are terrible places where dogs are forced to live in extremely harsh conditions and are shipped off to pet stores for a profit. The puppies are often kept in cadges that have too many dogs in them. The cadges are often made of wire and cut the paws of the dogs. This usually spreads disease because the dog cadges are placed over dirt and mud. The mud enters the cut in the paw causing infection, which most likely will end the dog’s life. There is also a shortage of food given to the dogs, leading many to die of starvation. The dogs are not shown any care and sometimes end up becoming savage to any human that it comes in contact with. The female dogs are usually used for breeding until they either die from exhaustion or cannot produce a new litter of pups. These issues should not be taken lightly and need to be stopped.

Reaganomics needs to be resurrected to jump start the American economy

The argument presented in my paper is that the United States government needs to implement the economic policies of the Reagan administration into today’s economy to jump start it again. Ronald Reagan inherited a recession like the one today when he first took office. He wanted to base his presidency around low taxes, less government, and a strong national defense. By doing these things this would help the country as a whole but lowering taxes would affect the economy directly because this would stimulate the economy by putting money back in the pockets of the American consumers. The Reagan administration made many cuts and used different tactics to stimulate the economy again and eventually the economy got back on track. With the upcoming election in 2012 I believe that the next president should take a hard look at Reaganomics to get the American economy going again.

First thing that comes to mind about physical education is exercise not everyone favorite word. Maybe there should be alternatives for high school P.E

In my argumentive essay the main point is whether or not high schools should require students to take a physical educational class as their only option. Could they possibly switch the credit with a sport they play instead of the class itself? It has its pros and cons as whether it would be a good idea or not. A pro is that the fact that maybe more students will try and go out for a sport and socialize with their peers or another option instead of having to be required to take a gym class and doing things that they possibly wouldn’t like. A major con is that maybe that someone might say their on a sport team and get credit for that sport but is not always participating in the event held. Many views are held when talking about whether or not there should be an alternative for a physical education class, even though some high schools now accept this option should all high schools?

Do you hunt or believe that hunting is a sport? Many people disagree and think that hunting is a bad immoral thing to do, but why…

My argument is about hunting and why it is a good thing instead of being looked down upon. There are many people that think that hunting is immoral and not fair to the animals. I don’t believe this is the case at all. Hunting is used for many reasons from hunting for food to reducing the population of an over populated species. The point is that hunting is a sport that people have enjoyed for many centuries. People hunt for many reasons that others don’t understand. Many skeptics believe that hunters go out and shoot anything that moves or any animal they want when this is not the case at all. I believe that many people don’t understand this because of where they live. Take for example a person that lives in New York City would not know that there is an over population of deer in other states. The reason for deer seasons is to reduce the population there for making the species safe for the environment. Hunters enjoy the challenge and the enjoyment of the outdoors that is involved with hunting that I believe people just don’t understand.

If you believe homosexuality is a sin, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone [...]”

Same-sex marriage should be legalized because everyone should have the right to marry whomever they wish regardless of sexual orientation. Some argue that homosexuality is a sin, however, divorce is also something the Bible calls a sin and the divorce rates in the U.S. now are at 50%. There are several things that the Bible calls sin, such as eating the flesh of the pig, but most people still do these things. Jesus taught in the New Testament to love and accept everyone no matter the sins they have committed. There is a story in John 8:1-11 of a woman who committed adultery who was brought before Jesus. The men who brought her demanded that she be stoned for breaking one of the Commandments. Jesus ignored them and when the men continued to question him Jesus said, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”

I just played Call of Duty and I died…now I’m mad, I’m about to go shoot people for no reason!

Violence is all around us, whether it’s in reality or in media. Many people believe that media violence causes an increase of aggression in someone’s mental health. With the increase of aggression which people clam is cause by the violence in the media, the result is violent behavior. I believe that media violence is not the cause of aggression. Aggression can be caused by a broken childhood, racism, drugs, and/or chemical imbalance in the brain, none which is related to the media. People always look for something or someone to blame for their actions or the actions of someone else. Many things in the media are not real. Violence in video games, television shows, and movies are not real. They are digitally designed programs which are made for entertainment purposes only.

September 11, 2001. If the government has informed us of the truth, why are there still gaps that remain to be filled?

I pose the argument that the US Government may have had insider knowledge that the World Trade Center would be harmed by foreign powers on September 11, 2001. There is much evidence to back this theory, despite the general public’s beliefs. The government withheld a lot of information concerning building 7 and why it was pulled shortly after the second tower was hit. Reporters and journalists still haven’t gotten a clear answer from any government officials. Certain measures weren’t taken by US defenses when they were notified about the hijackings. The thoughts in my paper encompass many of the larger unanswered questions about what happened on September 11 and the weeks that followed. There is unsubstantial evidence provided by the government that doesn’t hold up when eyebrows are raised. Did the government aid the foreign powers? That question will never be answered. But if we can prove that they had knowledge that these events would take place beforehand, why did our defenses fail? What does this say about our political hierarchy?

Transgender America faces many problems that most “normal” Americans cannot comprehend, such difficulties become a way of life.

Many people assume that to be transgendered is to have a sex change, this is not the case. The definition of transgender is an individual who identifies with a different gender than their sex implies. However, those who do get sex changes generally are judged and stereotyped. Most people have no idea what is involved when going through a sex change. The process includes: living as a member of the designated sex for a certain length of time, hormone treatments, surgery, name changes and much more. When moving past the “misunderstood” factor of transgender life, there are all of the factors that are less apparent, but equally real. Transgendered individuals often have difficulties finding jobs, living quarters, and are denied other civil rights.

Video games affects on children. The different types of violence, and what can parents do to understand the gaming’s rating system.

I think that video games do not have a negative affect on children. Actually some people use it to relieve stress. The second part of my argument is explaining the different levels of violence. The differences between Hamlet and lets say The Road Runner cartoon. One of these is about how a person goes in sane, and by the end of the play almost everyone dies. The other is about a coyote that tries to catch the roadrunner by any means necessary, traps, guns, or a large weight. They both contain violence but one is comical, the other is more dramatic based violence. Lastly I talk about what parents can do to understand the rating systems, to clear up any confusion, and where they can find more information about the system.

People let me tell you ‘bout my best friend. He's a one boy cuddly toy, my up, my down, my pride and joy.

If someone were to ask you who your best friend is, you would most likely answer with a person you closely associate with or a family member. What about that furry canine of yours that consistently wags its tail when you’re around? Dog is supposedly man’s best friend, right?

Our canine companions have been by our side for centuries and have helped us out a great deal more than we assume they do. They assist us medically, and emotionally. Dogs have aided the blind, rescued people from rubble, and sniffed out drug crimes. Studies show that the relationship between a dog and its owner is similar to that of a parent and child. The relationship is circular. An owner loves and cares for his dog, the dog loves and cares for its owner. In comparison, a dog is much more willing to learn and interact as opposed to its rival, the cat, and unlike a human, a dog can not retaliate with harsh criticism. So, the next time you are frustrated, consider who the best friend is to vent to.

A Child's First Defense Against Harm Can Fit in Thier Back Pocket

Cell phones are a safety net that all children should have. They can fix problems that may occur and prevent new ones from happening. Cell phones can be used to trace a lost or abducted child’s location, but hopefully there will be things a cell phone can help a child do before a situation like that arises. Cell phones can be used to get in touch with an adult if the child is alone or fears that they’re maybe a dangerous situation developing. Parents can also use cell phones to get into contact with their child if they need to ask if a child arrived at a destination safely. There could be some drawbacks with giving children cell phones, such as cost, but there are even cell phones that are made specifically for young children that can have restrictions put on the phone itself such as internet block and the ability to only call the people listed in the phones contact set up by a parent.

The only dangerous thing about marijuana is the 34,000 people that die in drug cartels every year.

My argumentative paper is about the legalization of marijuana. Did you know not one person has ever died because of marijuana? Also, 80 % of arrests are for possession of marijuana, not distribution or manufacturing. A drug bust can ruin someone's life when they really did not do anything wrong. On top of that, more then 25,000 hemp products can be made that are nontoxic, reusable, and biodegradable. Taxing marijuana would also bring in an extra ten to fourteen billion dollars in revenue.

Besides all the reasons it could possibly save our economy, it is our freedom to choose what we want to do. Prohibition has not helped the government in any way, all it has done is give marijuana the "forbidden fruit effect" causing people to want it. More then 100 million adults admit to using marijuana, and that is including our last three presidents.

Medically, marijuana is the drug some people need to live. People with AIDS use marijuana to be able to eat enough to live, cancer patients use marijuana to relieve nausea and vomiting after chemotherapy, and marijuana works just as well as codeine as a pain reliever and its healthier. And marijuana is not as unhealthy as every seems to think. Infact, the only way to consume it unhealthily is by smoking it. No worry though you can consume it from baked foods, tincture, or from a vaporizer.

Inclusion is GREAT for not only special education students but also for general education students.

My argument is about how inclusion is good for not only special needs kids but it is also just as good for general education kids. Some educators and parents don’t think that inclusion is good for the special needs students because it gives them the opportunity to be made fun of by general education students. From my experiences with working with special needs students this is not true. By the special needs students going to general education rooms general ed students get the opportunity to see what it is like to be around someone with a disability and not judge them from their outside appearance. This is also good for the special education student because they are being challenged in school. They do not have to sit in the same classroom all day long with the same people. If the student is higher functioned they should get the opportunity to go to a class that is more fitting for their mental ability. Just because they are in a wheel chair does not mean the school system has a right to hold their education back. Professionals and parents also think inclusion is bad because some educators believe that the special education teachers are just going to leave the students in the classroom with no supervision and no help. This is not true. One of the reason schools have paraprofessionals is to go around to the classroom with their students and help them in general education classrooms. Special Educators have to be very careful to put their students with teachers that are willing to help and work with special needs students. Inclusion does not work for every child but people are becoming much more understanding of special needs children because of inclusion.

Cancer is killing millions everywhere! Do we have a solution?

Millions of people are diagnosed with cancer each year, because of this terrible disease millions then turn to chemotherapy. Although chemotherapy may have saved thousands of lives, and is the main treatment for cancer patients, there are many flaws with it as well. Stem cell research can be the potential solution for cancer patients in the future. Stem cell research is a very new idea to the world but I believe that it has the power to save even more lives. I am not asking that chemotherapy should be forgotten about, but instead can go hand in hand with stem cell research. Too many lives are lost each year due to all different kinds of cancer for this not to be a global issue. Cancer affects people everywhere, too many children grow up without a mother, and too many parents have to bury their children. I believe that stem cell research can be the salvation for millions of people everywhere.

If your grandparent hasn’t passed then I’m sure that they would have a lot to tell you. Do not let technology hinder a conversation with the elderly.

Each year we get smarter and smarter. Each year we also get dumber and dumber. Knowing how to communicate with one another with words less and less is becoming the result of the increase in technology. No hand written letters, no hand written anything for that matter, no one going out of there way to socialize or converse with another human being. No communication like we use to use. Conversation is disappearing before our eyes. If we want to hear any of the captivating stories of our grandparents’ childhood or our grandfathers’ trip to Vietnam then we must make the first move and talk to them first, all they are waiting for is someone to listen. Until we realize that our grandparents and the elderly of the society are going quickly, we will be shy of the memories of the past. The elderly group is a very limited resource and we need to cultivate the potential of the present time with them. Our grandparents aren’t learning much about technology because they lived their whole lives without it. It is not completely necessary and it definitely should not be the most important thing in our life.
